Description: Insert for a child's tunic; oval shaped; probably a shoulder insert; Coptic weaving showing late Hellenistic and Persian influences; Design: tree of life styled in the shape of the Cross (secret symbol of early Christianity) flanked by Pegasus and 2 birds; 'running dog' design on the border; purple coloured wool on linen; embroidered with natural linen; rib weave, slanting weft; woven from the bottom to the top on the warp of the tunic itself. Framed with 574.
