Tunic insert Description: Textile fragment; oval tunic insert; style and subject not monastic but show the naïve, rustic attitude of the provincial life; Design: Tree of Life in centre flanked by 2 drumming figures on a pedestal or open 2-wheel carriage; the oval is surrounded by a plain reddish coloured border edged with the 'running dog' design in neutral colour; wool on linen; rib weave; slanting weft; woven into the warp of the tunic from the bottom to the top; embroidery with the flying needle.
