Description: Fragment of a vertical band, clavus, with rounded end; Coptic weaving; woven into the tunic from the side; warp: wool and silk twisted together; weft: wool and white floss silk; rib weave; embroidery in white floss silk; the colours of the woollen threads are purple, indigo, black; 2 shades of ochre, green; design consists of a praying Coptic saint at the centre alternating with grotesque human figures, their long arms and legs encircling a hare, a bird, and the tree of life which has a human-faced flower in the centre. The design of this fragment is different from the other objects in the collection; mounted on a strip of ochre coloured woollen material with 3 white stripes at each end.
