Bowl Description: Blue and white bowl; provincial coarse porcelain, 'grove porseleinen' in Dutch; similar to 500. Coarse heavily potted body, burnt brownish on parts not covered with the glaze; high footrim; duck egg coloured heavy glaze; ring on the interior base is unglazed with illegible underglaze blue mark on its centre; decorated in greenish-grey cobalt underglaze on the exterior only; design consists of various renderings of the character 'Shou' (long life) and the Buddhist symbol of the wheel (Lun), standing for the universal monarch and law. South-Chinese export ware to the Philippines to the East Indian Archipelago. Probably Fukien province made.
