Bowl Description: Blue and white bowl, similar to 500; provincial coarse porcelain, 'grove porseleinen' in Dutch; coarse heavily potted body; duck egg coloured heavy glaze; a ring on the interior base is left unglazed; decorated in greenish grey cobalt underglaze; design consists of various renderings of the character 'Shou' (long life) and the Buddhist symbol of the wheel (Lun), standing for the universal monarch and law; a symbol from the exterior design is painted on the centre interior base to simulate a mark. South-Chinese export ware to the Philippines to the East Indian Archipelago. Probably Fukien province.
