Shallow dish Description: Blue and white shallow dish; provincial coarse porcelain, 'grove porseleinen' in Dutch; coarse greyish body, heavily potted, burning light ochre on exposed part not covered by the glaze; shallow foot rim; blueish white glaze; a ring on the interior base is left unglazed; greyish blue cobalt underglaze painted design of birds in primitive, quick rendering; exterior of dish decorated with 5 rings in underglaze blue; the exterior base is unglazed. South Chinese domestic or export ware to the Philippines, to the East Indian Archipelago. Probably made in the Fukien province.
