Martaban Description: Large martaban (storage jar). T'ang shape with Yuan-type ears. South China provincial kilns. Yuan dynasty( 1260-1368) or Early Ming. Buff coloured body; flat, cord-cut base; flat mouth rim with everted rim under which are 6 evenly spaced, broad, flat, vertical ears. Emerald green lead glaze covers the interior and exterior but stops above the foot rim. The glaze is worn and discoloured but the original colour is clearly visible beneath the ears.
