Urn Description: Reconstructed urn from Ravy, Persia; tin glazed earthenware with lustre decoration in copper-red, green, brown and black with patches of cobalt; shoulder section is dimpled with thumb impressions; body is fluted. Decoration - is indistinct: around the neck is a small, red border with arabesque-like design; the following border depicts lions chasing horned animals; main design consists of 14 human figures seated in 2 horizontal rows of 7 each; they have halos, long black hair and a turban/diadem-like headdress, and wear robes with spotted design except for the 14th figure wearing a robe of floral design; some figures hold objects in their hands; background is filled with a rich design of arabesques and foliage; border above the footrim is filled in with arabesques and foliage on a brown background.
