Description: Jar tapering outwards to centre and inwards to mouthrim; brown stoneware body with brown slip; brownish green glaze covers the interior of the neck and the exterior of the body; the lower quarter of the body is unglazed; four imitation ears without openings above the shoulder - the very late specimens have this characteristic; 4 bands of reeding from below the ears to the neck. Prototype Yuan or earlier? 19th or 20th century copy of the original shape. Group A - see Dr Eckert's identification notes in Historical Notes section.
